Nurturing the Spirit of Internationalism

Indraprastha World School has always taken a lead in promoting cross cultural curriculum exchange with many schools across the globe. To further this goal, many guests from the Partner schools have visited the school.

 

 

Trip to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), USA

An educational trip to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), United States of America was organized from 4 June to 15 June, 2019. 46 students of class VI-XII and 10 staff members visited the Kennedy Space Centre. It was a life time experience. It was a two day Astronaut training camp at NASA, where the team explored the visitor's complex, Vehicle Assembly Building, Saturn V. Rocket, Space Shuttle, Atlantis Complex Rocket Garden, IMAX Movie, Virtual documentaries and participated in the Astronaut training programme. Students interacted with the veteran astronaut ‘JOHN BLAHA.’ Young learners were briefed about the admission process at MIT and Harvard University.

The spectacular Disney land, the wizardly world of Harry Potter Island of Adventures at the Universal Studio and famous Times Square mesmerized everyone. The majestic view of Niagara falls in dazzling lights, ferrying to Liberty Island, the magnificence of the Statue of Liberty, the boat ride, the Maid of the Mist transported the students to the foot of the falls. It was a splendid experience to have a 360 degree aerial view of the New York City from the 102nd floor of the One World Observatory. It was an educative, thrilling and a learning experience for all.

 

 

A Unique Experience of Robo Champs in the 9th Annual IRC 2019, Russia

Our Robotics Champions Rohan Dhingra (XII) and Jishnu Chauhan (XI) represented the school in the International Finale of the 9th Annual International Robotics Competition 2019 organized by Avishkaar in Moscow, Russia. The event was organized at People’s Friendship University, Moscow (Russia) on June 16, 2019.

More than 15 schools participated in the mega event. The efforts of our robo champs were honoured as they were felicitated with a Special Appreciation Certificate for their consistent performance at international level since last five years.

Students got an opportunity to interact with the robotics experts and participants from other countries. They communicated across different levels of technology at international platform and enhanced their learning experiences. All the participants got an opportunity to explore the historic city of Moscow and St. Petersburg.

 

     

 

Japanese Students Visited Indraprastha World School

A delegate of enthusiastic students and teachers of Doshisha Junior High School, Kyoto (Japan )visited our school on Thursday, December 27, 2018.  Filled with curiosity to explore the Indian pattern of education they visited the classrooms and keenly observed the teaching strategies and methodologies practiced in the Classrooms. Students and guest teachers enthusiastically participated in various activities related to different subjects and learnt the nuances related to the same.

 

They shared their learning experiences with the students of our school and enjoyed while learning new concepts, At the outset, all the students and teachers were gifted goodies and their endeavours were acknowledged by felicitating them with a certificate of appreciation too.

 

 

An Exchange Programme with UK

Abbotsburry Primary School, South London

The teachers from our partner school Abbotsburry Primary School, South London came to India under the Teacher Exchange Programmes “Connecting Classrooms” sponsored by the British Council from 14th to 18th February 2018. A warm welcome was extended to them in the assembly conducted by the primary classes. They interacted with the students and teachers to understand and share the teaching pedagogies being practiced by the school. They visited the classes of the primary wing and shared their learning methods with the students. They relished the sumptuous Indian delicacies and expressed their love for the rich diversity present in India

 

 

Delegates from St Cedd’s School

In March 2013, once again our students got an opportunity to learn from Ms Caroline Picking and her associate teachers from St Cedd’s School.  The teachers engaged the students of the Primary wing in various activities. It was a rewarding session where our students learnt a great deal  bout the values, culture and the lifestyle of the citizens of United Kingdom. In the interaction session with the guest teachers from abroad, emphasis was laid on hands on experience and creating new ideas. The visitors were deeply impressed by the teaching pedagogies and the hospitality rendered by the school management and appreciated the upward trajectory of the school towards internationalism.

 

Ms Carloine Picking’s second visit in 2011 to Indraprastha World School was just as inspirational and impressive as her first visit. The school and students had benefitted a lot by exchanging the best practices in educational techniques and ideas. She expressed her gratitude to Dr Rajesh Hassija for supporting the project and appreciated the commitment, dedication and inspiration which has been instrumental in gaining the prestigious global curriculum project for both the schools.

 

Mrs Caroline Picking and Ms Jane visited our school to work on the Global Curriculum Partnership Project (GCP) from August 15, 2010 to August 24, 2010 and 2011. The visit aimed at exchanging and learning new teaching strategies from the teachers in India. Observation and interaction with the visitors gave students a wide learning platform and an international exposure.

 

 

Goldstone School and Balfour School , UK

 To strengthen the bond between the partners school a panel of teacher’s visited the school. The school welcomed a delegation of teachers from the prestigious schools of London in 2011. The team members included Ms Anne Gibbs and Ms Mags from Goldstone School, Ms Jude from Balfour School, UK and Ms Harriet Gill, the Official from British Council. The cluster members contributed to the store house of knowledge by disseminating and sharing information, encouraging student teacher interaction and facilitated project based learning.

 

 

Links Primary School, Tooting, London (U.K)

Ms Nafia Ali, the coordinator at LPS from Links Primary School, UK visited IPWS school in 2013 and 2014 under the International School’s Activity Plan to review the progress of the project based on Roald Dahl. The students of class III to IV were engaged in this project. They were given the books of Roald Dahl also to accomplish the task. She interacted with the students and the teachers and apprised them with the difference in the teaching On the occasion of Easter, our students received gifts from the students of the partner school and in turn  emailed them greeting cards on the occasion of Holi and Easter. Ms Nafia from UK has been in constant touch with the students to give shape to the project and foster multidimensional two way learning.

 

Felsted Primary School, UK

Indraprastha World School has always taken a lead in promoting cross-cultural curriculum exchanges with many schools across the globe. To further this goal, we had a few guests from one of our partner school, Felsted Primary School , UK in 2015. It is a 450 years old school of UK. Ms. Jenney Burret, the head teacher along with Ms. Jennifer Gilling and Ms. Christina Bury visited us, met the children and the staff of IPWS. Exchange of teaching methodologies and innovations in the pedagogy of teaching were discussed. Various eco-friendly future projects related to sustainable development were also considered.

 

The guests were highly impressed with the various inter-class competitions like Mathematical Dress Walk, Poetry Recitation and History Comes Alive. The students presented the guests with gifts and cards specially made by them.

    

 

Sharing Ties with Bolton College

Indraprastha World School welcomed Mr Bob J Hindle, Principal Bolton College under the partnership programme. The visit aimed at enduring partnership under the coveted International School Programme. Projects by both the institutions were exchanged for a better understanding of the courses and opportunities necessary for development of a human being.

Indraprastha on a Global Spree

Today’s generation, especially students face multifarious challenges prevailing in the society which are highly volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. Self awareness, keeping updated with the changing scenario and better global understanding are required to achieve excellence and sustain in the 21st century.

 

To provide exposure and widen the horizon of our young citizens of tomorrow, the school authorities organized the tour to Japan, one of the most technologically advanced countries of the world for the students of Indraprastha SCHOOLS. The group comprising19 students and 2 teachers visited Doshisha Junior High School at Kyoto where they had a wonderful interactive session with the Japanese children as they observed their classes and the experienced the teaching learning process. Students enthusiastically engaged themselves in different activities and learnt a lot. The educational tour generated global awareness and acquainted the students with the different social milieu honing their interpersonal skills.

Visit to St Cedd’s School

As part of the international projects being regularly taken up by the school, the exchange visits have ranked high and have gone a long way in exchanging not only the latest methodology but also the culture and the practices of both the nations. To further strengthen the bond with our partner schools in UK,  Ms Bhawna Tandon, School Administrative Officer and Ms Ritu Ranjan ( HOD Computer Dept. and ISA Coordinator visited  St Cedd’s School, London in June 2014.

 

 

Transcending Boundaries (2012)

The spirit of Internationalism is truly upheld at Indraprastha with the culmination of different exchange programmes which gives one and all an insight into the teaching methodologies of other nations. It enhances understanding of cultural, educational and ethnic differences between the nations. Keeping in sync with the same, in 2013 Ms Anita Mahajan and Ms Ravinder Anand visited  St Cedd’s School, UK.

 

To provide a truly global dimension to school education, Ms Vijaya Sarma visited schools in Chelmsford School, UK in 2013.  These interactions are an ongoing part of the previous and the forthcoming exchanges which focus on exchange of curriculum strategies, teaching pedagogies and connecting students of both the countries through different projects and visits.

 

 

Expanding Horizon in Astronomy at NASA (2012)

 At Indraprastha, education is intertwined with experiences which enrich children and prepare them to be the global citizens of the 21st century. The school has taken a giant leap towards internationalism and in sync with this initiative, students and teachers went on an educational trip to the Kennedy Space Centre at NASA.

 

The trip to NASA was a life time experience for students to turn them into wholesome personalities and apprised them with the changing trends in the field of Science and technology.  It familiarized them with the educational life abroad and widened their global perspective and inculcated the feeling of tolerance, togetherness, and team work.  

 

Beyond Boundaries  …. A Real Learning Experience (2010)

UKIERI (UK-India Education and Research Initiative). is a unique programme which supports collaborative projects between UK and India. Vice Principal, Ms Shikha Arora visited United Kingdom under the aegis of UKIERI. It was a rare opportunity to be a part of the six member group which visited Brighton, UK on an exchange programme from September 27, to October 3, 2010.

 

The visit to the three schools at Brighton-Beveandean Primary School,  Goldstone School and Balfour Junior School. was a revelation in itself.  Teachers got an opportunity to share with the students of UK the activities of the Indian students, more so, at Indraprastha World School. It was an amazing experience to see the students of Goldstone dancing on Bollywood numbers to greet their guests. The visit became even more enriching experience when the students satisfied their curiosity by asking a volley of questions. Overall, it was an exciting, challenging and constructive engagement with the schools of UK.

  

 

 

Fostering the Spirit of Internationalism ( 2010)

British Council provided Ms Vijaya Sarma, Primary Headmistress an opportunity to visit Chelmsford School, UK, St Cedd’s School and Felsted School UK and promote the Collaborative curriculum based work with the partner schools to foster multi-dimension learning and gain international  experience Ms Vijaya Sarma, Primary Headmistress visited schools in, She observed the Classroom  management and school administration  strategies and tried to establish the connect of our students with the students of these schools.

 

However, the most exciting moment was to teach the students of St Cedd’s School and exchange with them the nuances of Indian culture and about the school life at Indraprastha World School. Overall it was an enriching experience with unforgettable memories of the visit
